Illinois adds Memorial Day commitment from 2023 OL out of New Jersey

Illinois has added a commitment to its 2023 recruiting class. Zachary Aamland, an offensive lineman from New Jersey, pledged to Bret Bielema’s Fighting Illini program.
Bielema teased the news on Twitter shortly before Aamland made the announcement.

A Princeton native, Aamland is listed at 6-6, 285 pounds. The Hun School product is rated 3-stars, the No. 21 recruit in the state of New Jersey and No. 93 offensive tackle in the class of 2023 by 247Sports. Aamland has 16 scholarship offers, including Maryland and Rutgers. He narrowed his options down to Illinois, West Virginia and Pittsburgh as his final 3 going into Monday’s commitment announcement.
