Illinois picked up a player via the transfer portal Monday, this time with a tight end out of the FCS ranks.
The player is Grant Hidalgo, a tight end out of Stetson University. A member of the 2020 recruiting class, Hidalgo is listed at 6-foot-5 and 225 lbs. with good size for the position.
He shared his commitment via social media:
“I want to thank my family for always believing in me, as well as, Coach Aaron Jones for developing my skills, and mentoring me throughout this process,” wrote Hidalgo. “I also want to thank Coach Bielema, Coach Ben Miller, and Coach Hawthorne for giving me the opportunity to play Power 5 football at such a prestigious program.”

After a 5-7 mark in his first season in Champaign, Bret Bielema is not waiting around for things to happen. He is reportedly making a change at OC heading into 2022.
