Illinois guard Alfonso Plummer is heading to the next level.
Plummer announced on Twitter on Tuesday evening he will be declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft. He also plans to hire an agent, which means he will not be able to return to the college game for the 2022-23 season.
Plummer spent just one season at Illinois, transferring into the program after spending the prior two years at Utah. He played a critical role in the Fighting Illini’s pursuit of a B1G regular season championship.
“I cannot explain how happy and grateful I am to you all. I have to say that this year was special. Thank you all for the memories and support since I came into town,” Plummer wrote. “Unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye and focus on a new path.
“Without further ado, I want to inform you all that I will be declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft and hiring an agent to explore my options. I can’t wait to see what the future has for me. My story will continue to be written.”
