Illinois basketball received some good news on Tuesday regarding class of 2023 PF Zacharie Perrin. It looks like Perrin is now immediately eligible to play for the Fighting Illini.

The news was announced on the team’s account on Twitter. Perrin is a 3-star prospect out of France who enrolled at Sunrise Christian High School in Wichita, Kansas for the fall. He had originally hoped to begin the season with the Illini.

Brad Underwood can’t wait to get to work with the 6-foot-10, 220 pound prospect. Here’s what Underwood had to say per an Illinois press release:

We’re excited to have Zach arrive on campus and begin his academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois. He has remained loyal to us throughout the recruiting process and is eager to officially be an Illini. Joining a team midseason is certainly a unique situation, but Zach is a driven, committed young man who takes school and basketball seriously. Our coaches and support staff, as well as our players, are here to welcome him and offer support throughout this transition.

Perrin joins an Illinois team that is on the rise. The Fighting Illini recently moved up on the latest AP Poll to No. 16. It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time Perrin will have off the bat.

The Fighting Illini play Missouri on Thursday. Tipoff will be at 9 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
