Kerby Joseph had an impressive year during Bret Bielema’s first season leading Illinois, and Joseph is taking the opportunity to head for the NFL Draft.
Joseph, a member of the 2018 recruiting class, took the chance Sunday afternoon to pen his goodbye to the Illini:
“It’s been a great journey here at the University of Illinois. I’ve shared many laughs and shed many tears, but in the end it made me who I am today,” wrote Joseph on Twitter. “That being said, I would like to announce that I am entering the 2022 NFL Draft. I want to thank the Illini Nation for the support and love they’ve had for me.”

Though Joseph was a senior, he had the chance to return for another season due to the extra COVID year of eligibility. He finished the year with a team-high 5 interceptions and 57 tackles.
Now, Joseph will work toward the draft and hope to find a destination to begin his NFL career.
