Illinois star defensive linemen Jer’Zhan Newton and Keith Randolph Jr. have acquired a significant amount of earnings through NIL deals.

Newton and Randolph decided to use that NIL money as a generous usage by donating $5,000 to the Boys and Girls Club in Champaign. Harrington Law will add to the donation with $100 for each sack accounted for this season.

The defense of the Fighting Illini accounted for 28 sacks this season. Both Newton and Randolph had great seasons on one of the most dominant defenses in college football this season.

Newton accounted for 58 total tackles, 26 solo tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. Randolph accounted for 51 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and an interception.

Illinois finished the 2022 regular season with the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation (12.3 points allowed per game), second-ranked total defense (263.8 total yards allowed per game), the sixth-ranked passing defense (165.4 passing yards allowed per game), and the eighth-ranked rushing defense (98.4 rushing yards allowed per game).
