An Illinois defensive lineman was arrested Sunday morning on a domestic violence charge, according to a report.

Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer reported on Sunday that redshirt freshman defensive tackle Lere Oladipo was booked in the Champaign County Jail on a charge of domestic battery. He was released on $1,000 bail.

Oladipo’s criminal arraignment will be held on Monday.

Oladipo has played in four games for the Illini this season, making seven tackles. He played in Saturday’s 63-33 loss to Maryland. The freshman also started against Wisconsin a week ago, his only of the year.

No other details of the arrest were provided at the time. Illinois spokesman Kent Brown told the Inquirer that the team was “aware of the situation and report but still gathering information.”
