Three members of the Illinois football team were booked in the Champaign County Jail on Wednesday on charges of home invasion and armed robbery.

Sophomores Darta Lee and Zarrian Holcombe and freshman Howard Watkins Jr. were booked Wednesday morning, according to Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer. All have an arraignment hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The University of Illinois is gathering more information before it makes a statement on the situation:

Lee played in six games for the Illini on the offensive line as a true freshman in 2016, making two starts. He was expected to be battling for a starting role throughout the summer and fall. Holcombe played in seven games last season, mostly on special teams.

Watkins is a true freshman and was an early-enrollee for the program in January.

No other information has been released on the situation at this time.
