Illinois’ opponent reportedly set for 2022 Roman Main Event

Illinois is headed to Las Vegas as a part of the non-conference slate during the 2022-23 basketball season. Now, the Illini know who they will face.
According to Jon Rothstein with CBS Sports, Illinois will face UCLA in the first round of the 2022 Roman Main Event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The other matchup will be between Virginia and Baylor.

The first round of games in the event will be played on Friday, Nov. 18. The consolation game and championship game will be played on Sunday, Nov. 20.
The matchup for Illinois provides a unique opportunity as a preview of a future conference opponent. The Bruins are set to join the B1G beginning in 2024 in what should be an exciting series between Illinois and UCLA.
