Illinois head coach Bret Bielema has pledged to spend more time on in-state recruiting. On Wednesday, Amos Alonzo Stagg standout wide receiver and defensive back Timothy Griffin, Jr. announced over twitter that he will continue his football playing career in Champaign with the Illini.

Griffin broke Stagg’s all-time receiving yards record, along with the single-season mark in 2021. He had 41 receptions for 829 yards and 6 touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, he had 25 tackles, 14 solos and 11 assists with 1 interception.
