Illinois quarterback Brandon Peters had a good day Saturday because technically both of his schools won. Before transferring to Illinois, Peters spent time at Michigan.

Peters led the Fighting Illini to a 47-14 victory over Northwestern and then turned around and saw Michigan defeat Ohio State, 42-27.

Peters was pleased with both outcomes Saturday.

“Don’t get me wrong because I’ll always consider myself an Illini, but yeah, I think I’m the only guy in that locker room that went 2-0 today,” Peters said after the two games ended.

Peters could have stayed in Ann Arbor but he wanted to play and he left and came to Champaign. and hasn’t looked back since.

“You have to be able to have some maturity to realize not everything in your life is going to go as planned.”

And Peters’ plans seem to have worked out for him.

Illinois closed out the year with a win over Northwestern to improve to 5-7 on the season. It was the first time the Fighting Illini defeated the Wildcats since 2014.
