Illinois 2019 recruiting class got a little bigger over the weekend.

On Sunday, 6-foot-5, 250-pound offensive tackle Evan Kirts announced his commitment to Illinois, becoming the 11th player to join the class. The Illinois native made his announcement via Twitter.

“Extremely excited to announce my official commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois,” Kirts wrote.

Kirts is a 3-star offensive lineman out of Oak Lawn, Illinois. He’s ranked as one of the top 50 players out of his home state.

He’s just the second offensive lineman to give a pledge to Lovie Smith and the Illini in the 2019 class.

Illinois’ recruiting class has taken some hits recently and has struggled to keep up with the rest of the B1G. The 2019 class ranks 62nd nationally and 12th in the B1G.

Kirts had nine offers with a  majority coming from MAC schools. He chose Illinois over Virginia, Northern Illinois and Ball State, among others.
