Illinois sophomore Ayo Dosunmu has made an announcement regarding his future in Champaign.

On Wednesday evening, Dosunmu announced that he will be testing the waters of the 2020 NBA Draft. However, the sophomore will not be hiring an agent at this time, allowing him the opportunity to return to the Fighting Illini for the 2020-21 season, should it be in his best interest.

Dosunmu had the same decision to make a year ago, opting to come back to Illinois for his sophomore season. This time, Dosunmu will have until June 3 to decide whether to keep his name in the draft and withdraw it and return to Champaign.

“This was a tough decision,” Dosunmu wrote on Twitter. “I’m not sure what the date (for the NBA Draft is). But I’m 100% locked in. Whenever they announce a date, I’m prepared. 30 GMs are going to see what I’m made of. Straight ice in my veins.”

This past season, Dosunmu was a huge piece of Illinois’ transformation from a bottom-feeder in the B1G into one of the top teams in the conference. He was a first-team All-B1G selection after averaging 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while shooting over 48 percent from the floor.

Illinois finished the season 21-10 with a 13-7 mark in B1G play.
