Nebraska kicker Connor Culp paid homage to the late Sam Foltz with a thoughtful message on Tuesday.

While at LSU, Culp was teammates with kicker Colby Delahoussaye, the only survivor from the 2016 crash that killed Foltz and Michigan State’s Mike Sadler.

After Delahoussaye told Culp about Foltz, he became touched by character of the former Nebraska punter.

“I know he was an outstanding punter and seemed to be very well liked in the locker room,” Culp said. “I know I’m not a punter but I’m modeling my work off of him and trying to be the best I can be, work hard like he did, and go out every Saturday and prove himself that he was the best punter in the nation.”

Foltz may be gone but his impact on the Nebraska community will never be forgotten. It was great to hear Culp speak so effusively about Foltz while in the process of trying to make his own impact at Nebraska.

Nebraska (1-2) hosts Illinois (1-3) on Saturday (11 a.m. CST/BTN).
