The best season in 25 years and a warm-weather bowl game has resulted in Indiana fans gobbling up tickets for the Gator Bowl showdown against Tennessee on Jan. 2, according to outgoing IU athletic director Fred Glass.

On Tuesday morning, Zach Osterman tweeted out that Glass told reporters that Indiana’s allotment of tickets for the Gator Bowl is nearly out, and several Hoosier fans have been active on the secondary market. He’s expected to see plenty of cream and crimson in Jacksonville on Thursday.

CNHI’s Kevin Brockway also tweeted that Gator Bowl officials said that ticket sales for the game have reached nearly 60,000. TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville holds close to 80,000 in capacity.

Indiana is enjoying its best season since 1993, when it finished 8-4. The Hoosiers have not won nine games in a season since 1967.

The Hoosiers are headed to their first bowl game since 2016 and are hoping to land their first postseason victory since the 1991 Copper Bowl. Tennessee enters the game with a 7-5 record and is riding a five-game winning streak.
