An in-state matchup between Indiana and Ball State will take place on Sept. 12, 2026 according to an announcement from both universities on Thursday.

Adding the Cardinals to the schedule gives the Hoosiers their third and final 2026 non-conference opponent.

IU will be hosting Colorado State on Sept. 6, and then take to the road to play Connecticut on Sept. 26.

The two teams have met 13 times, with the Hoosiers holding a 10-3 advantage. Two of the Ball State wins came in Bloomington, both coming during a 3-game winning streak against IU.

A 2008, 42-20 win and a 41-39 victory in 2012 were both road wins for the Cardinals at Indiana.

The Hoosiers won the most recent meeting at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in 2019.
