Indiana basketball dropped the unfortunate news that senior point guard Xavier Johnson will not return for the Hoosiers this season. Indiana’s veteran PG has missed the past 19 games after injuring his foot against Kansas back in December.
He released the following statement Saturday.
“After consulting with my family, coaches and medical staff, I’ve decided to rest for the remainder of the season and will not be returning to competition,” Johnson said. “After healing my foot, my focus will be to pursue a medical hardship waiver and return to playing for the Hoosiers next season.”

While the Hoosiers would love to have him back on the court, Indiana has done well despite his absence. The Hoosiers are 20-10 in a tough B1G conference, especially playing well in the month of January. They’re a lock for the NCAA Tournament and will vie for a top seed in the B1G tournament Sunday against Michigan.
