Indiana added another playmaker on the defensive side of the ball Sunday, picking up a commitment from a defensive back out of Florida.

The player is James Monds III, a three-star defensive back out of Vero Beach, Florida. He had cut down his potential destinations to Wisconsin, Nebraska, Indiana, and Mississippi State at the end of June.

On Sunday, he made his final decision for the Hoosiers:

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Monds is the No. 67 cornerback nationally. He has five interceptions and 16 pass breakups on his resumé.
Monds’ commitment now brings Indiana’s 2022 class up to nine total commits with a definite dedication to the defensive side of the ball. Of the nine current commitments, Indiana has six players on the defensive side of the ball.

Indiana’s current group is headlined by Dasan McCullough, the No. 49 prospect nationally for the cycle. The Hoosiers’ class is also rated 32nd nationally and eighth in the B1G.
