Indiana has made a commitment to women’s basketball coach Teri Moren.

Thursday morning, Indiana’s athletic department announced that it has extended Moren through 2027 and will make her one of the highest-paid women’s basketball coaches in the B1G.

Moren will have an annual average salary of $862,500. There will also be performance bonus opportunities for Moren for B1G regular season and postseason championships, NCAA Tournament and WNIT Tournament appearances and victories, B1G or National Coach of the Year honors and academic accomplishments from the team.

“Teri Moren is the architect of an unprecedented era of success for our women’s basketball program, and I’m excited that we have agreed to a new deal that ensures she will be here for many years to come,” said athletics director Scott Dolson. “With six straight 20-win seasons and this year’s run to the Elite Eight, Teri has built our program into one of the very best in the Big Ten.

“This new contract places her in the upper echelon among her conference peers, rewards those achievements, and recognizes the upward trajectory that we are on. In my more than 30 years with the department I’ve never been as excited about the future of IU Women’s Basketball, and that’s because we have the right person leading us in the right direction.”

An extension for Moren comes after Indiana enjoyed a 21-6 season, finishing 16-2 in the B1G. The Hoosiers ended the year second in the B1G standings, behind only Maryland (17-1). IU also reached the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament.

Moren has posted a career record of 148-80 in seven seasons as the head coach at Indiana. She’s led the Hoosiers to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two WNIT appearances and the WNIT championship in 2018.

“I would like to thank President McRobbie, Scott Dolson, Mattie White and Fred Glass for believing in our program and giving us the opportunity to build something truly special at Indiana,” Moren said. “Along with my staff, we are dedicated to building successful young women on and off the court. I am truly blessed to be a part of the Hoosier Nation, who continue to show their love and gratitude for our team. We see you and appreciate you. As a lifelong Hoosier, I will continue to represent this incredible university with great pride and dedication.”
