Indiana freshman defensive back Jamar Johnson was reportedly booked in the Monroe County Jail on Thursday night on a preliminary charge of resisting law enforcement.

Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported that the Indiana University Police Department was conducting foot patrols on Thursday evening and detected the smell of marijuana. When the officers came across two individuals, one fled the scene but later returned.

Johnson was booked on the preliminary charge, which is a Class A misdemeanor. He will have a court hearing at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Johnson was booked around 10 p.m. and released approximately two hours later.

Johnson appeared in 10 games for the Hoosiers in 2018, both on defense and on special teams. He finished the season with two tackles, a pass break-up and an interception. His lone pick came in Indiana’s 24-17 win over Rutgers.
