Indiana loses All-American Dan Feeney, top receiver to injuries

The positive vibes surrounding Indiana’s win against Ball State might’ve been short-lived.
The Hoosiers found out some troubling news about two of their best players.
All-American offensive lineman Dan Feeney and top returning receiver Simmie Cobbs both left Saturday with what appeared to be serious injuries.
Cobbs was playing in his first game after serving a one-game suspension for the opener. He left after just one play with an apparent ankle injury. According to the Indy Star’s Zach Osterman, Cobbs returned on crutches with a walking boot.
“Simmie has an ankle injury that’s probably gonna require surgery. If that is what it is, we’ll see the timeline,” IU coach Kevin Wilson said. “He played one play. Just rolled it up. A little bubble pass and when the guy went to make the tackle (Cobbs suffered the injury). That’s what it looked like when I saw it on TV.”

The Hoosiers didn’t need Cobbs to roll past Ball State. Richard Lagow threw for 266 yards and three scores, two of which went to Nick Westbrook.
Feeney, on the other hand, might be a little tougher to replace if he’s out for a significant amount of time. The senior suffered a concussion that sidelined him for the remainder of the day. He’ll have to go through protocol before getting cleared for next week’s game against Wake Forest.
Jacob Bailey would be Feeney’s likely replacement.
