An Indiana punter will get to wear the crimson and cream uniform for one more season.

Thursday, head coach Tom Allen announced that fifth-year senior punter Haydon Whitehead was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA. He will return for the 2020 season for the Hoosiers.

Whitehead has punted the football 36 times this season for 1,507 yards, averaging 41.86 yards per boot. He’s landed 13-of-36 punt attempts inside opponents’ 10-yard line this season. The 36.1 percent success rate is the best in FBS.

For his career, Whitehead is averaging 40.7 yards per punt and has blasted the ball over 50 yards 15 times in his career. He’s also pinned opponents inside their own 5-yard line 13 times in his career.

Whitehead is a three-time Ray Guy Award candidate.
