Indiana fans probably cannot wait until the Hoosiers tip-off tonight against Eastern Michigan as the football season has gone awry.
The Hoosiers have yet to win a B1G game this season (0-6), and they are 2-7 overall.
The QB situation has been bleak in Bloomington; QB Michael Penix Jr. has not played since he got injured in the Penn State game. Then, back up QB Jack Tuttle was injured in the Ohio State game, and freshman Donaven McCulley has started the last 2 games against Maryland and Michigan.
Head coach Tom Allen spoke about the dicey QB situation today.
Penix Jr. and Tuttle will be available for practice this week, but it is not clear if they will be available to play this weekend vs. Rutgers.
Zach Osterman of the IndyStar provides more context:
Michael Penix and Jack Tuttle will both be able to practice this week. “That’s positive news for sure.” #iufb

To be clear, Allen doesn’t offer certainty beyond that. Not clear whether one or both will be available. But they’re back in practice. #iufb

The Indiana HC also talked about if it’s still a possibility that McCulley redshirts this season he has started in 4 games.
Dustin Dopirak of the Bloomington Herald-Times and the IndyStar provides additional context:
Allen asked about whether it’s still a consideration to try to redshirt McCulley, as he has only played in four games. Said it is has been discussed and is based on how healthy Penix and Tuttle.

It will be interesting to see who the starter will be when Indiana welcomes Rutgers to town on Saturday at noon ET on BTN.
