A little over two weeks ago, the Indianapolis Star reported that Indiana running back Morgan Ellison was handed a two-and-a-half year suspension from the university for allegedly sexually assaulting another student.

According to the report, an Indiana University panel determined that Ellison assaulted the student while she was sleeping and used force to continue the assault when she woke up. Ellison said the act was consensual and denied using force.

After weeks of silence, Ellison took to Twitter to release a statement regarding the sensitive situation:

Ellison is required to seek counseling and is not permitted to set foot on any Indiana University campus. He’s also barred from having any contact with the student he allegedly assaulted.

Ellison was suspended before the start of the 2018 season and has not appeared in a game for the Hoosiers. As a true freshman in 2017, he led the Hoosiers in rushing with 704 yards and six touchdowns and was expected to be the primary ball carrier as a sophomore.
