Indiana reportedly hiring SEC assistant to fill DC vacancy

Charlton Warren appears to be trading in the SEC for the Big Ten.
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Warren is set to join Tom Allen’s staff at Indiana as their defensive coordinator. Warren had spent the last two seasons at Georgia as their defensive backs coach.

He has ties to the Big Ten having coached at Nebraska in 2014. He played three seasons at Air Force in the late 1990s as a defensive back.
The addition of Warren to the staff offsets the loss of Kane Wommack who is now head coach at South Alabama. Wommack joined the Hoosiers in 2018 and was elevated to defensive coordinator the following year.
He took the position at South Alabama this past December.
Warren is highly-respected for his football mind and work ethic as well as being a solid recruiter.
This past season, Indiana was fourth in the Big Ten in scoring defense, allowing just 20.3 points per game. The Hoosiers finished 6-2 following a 26-20 loss in the Outback Bowl to Ole Miss.
