Beer sales will be coming to Assembly Hall this season for Indiana Men’s and Women’s basketball games, per a report on Monday. According to Zach Osterman with the Indy Star, the sales will begin at Hoosier Hysteria on Oct. 7.
The program began beer sales at sporting events in 2019 for home football games and has since expanded to home baseball and softball games and home soccer events.
Previously, beer sales have only been available at specific locations, but it was not accessible to general admission fans due to concerns about the crowd being too close to the floor. However, the program has shifted its stance after success in terms of alcohol-related incidents at its other venues.
The program has announced that Molson Coors Beverage Company and local brewery Upland Brewing Company will be the exclusive sponsors. Beer sales at men’s games will end with 10 minutes remaining in the second half, and at the end of the third quarter at women’s games.
The program looks to be pushing for a better fan experience across all sports, and beer sales will certainly do that for Indiana basketball fans.
