Indiana will be patient in DC search to replace Kane Wommack

Indiana is in the hunt for a new defensive coordinator after Kane Wommack took the Southern Alabama job earlier this month.
During his Early Signing Period press conference, Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen addressed the opening at defensive coordinator and discussed what the timing of the hire might be.
He told reporters he’s, “not in a hurry” to make a decision, indicating it might not happen until after Indiana’s bowl game.

Last year, Allen waited until Jan. 10 to promote Nick Sheridan into the offensive coordinator role. Depending on when Indiana’s bowl game takes place, Allen could follow a similar timeline.
Wommack did an excellent job as Indiana’s DC, particularly when it came to generating turnovers.
Indiana led the nation in interceptions this season with 17 despite only playing seven games. Cincinnati is the only other program in the country to record at least 13 interceptions in fewer than 10 games played.
The Hoosiers were scheduled to face Purdue in Week 9, but the game was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns with the Boilermakers.
Indiana is currently No. 11 in the College Football Playoff rankings and hope to earn a berth into a NY6 bowl game after going 6-1 this season.
