Indiana’s women’s basketball team is going to the Sweet 16.

The Hoosiers dominated Belmont on Wednesday evening, winning 70-48 to clinch a berth in next weekend’s action.

Indiana is producing a historic run of defensive performances. In addition to beating Belmont, the Hoosiers took down VCU 63-32 in the first round of the tournament on Monday.

That means IU has allowed just 80 points over the first two games of the tournament, which is an all-time Big Ten record.

In addition to being a conference record, IU also set a new program mark: This is Indiana’s first-ever appearance in the Sweet 16.

Offensively, it was a balanced approach that led Indiana over Belmont. Four Hoosiers scored in double figures: Grace Berger (17 points), Mackenzie Holmes (13 points), Ali Patberg (13 points) and Nicole Cardano-Hillary (10 points).

Here’s video of the locker room celebration following Wednesday’s win:

Indiana will hope its hot streak continues into the second weekend of the tournament. The Hoosiers will face No. 1-seeded North Carolina State on Saturday.
