Indiana’s OL using last year’s poor performance vs. Ohio State as motivation for Saturday showdown

Indiana’s offensive line is looking to make amends for the last time they played Ohio State. For an offensive line that is among the best in the Big Ten, last year’s showing against the Buckeyes was deplorable.

Ohio State beat Indiana 51-10 last year. Now with No. 3 Ohio State (3-0) set to host No. 9 Indiana (4-0) on Saturday afternoon, Indiana’s offensive line knows that they have to improve on their performance from a year ago.

In the game, Indiana, despite holding an edge in time of possession, managed just 257 yards of total offense. They were just 3-of-17 on third downs.

And Indiana’s offensive line was sacked six times, most in any game from last year (in their other 12 games they conceded just 21 total sacks).

This year, protection issues haven’t been a problem for Indiana, who have the third-best scoring offense in the Big Ten. So far this year, Indiana has only allowed five sacks over four games.

On Saturday in a comprehensive 24-0 win at Michigan State, Indiana allowed just one sack. The unit has suffered from some injuries and depth issues and will be tested by an Ohio State defense that has been aggressive in attacking the quarterback this year.
