Iowa athletic director Gary Barta is scheduled to meet with offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz regarding an outburst in the press box during halftime of Saturday’s game against Minnesota.

According to reports, Ferentz had a loud, obscenity-laced rant aimed at a replay official in regards to a fumble ruling in the first half. While there was no mention of what exactly the Hawkeyes’ offensive coordinator said, head coach Kirk Ferentz addressed the matter and said that type of conduct was “inappropriate.”

During the B1G coaches teleconference on Tuesday, Kirk Ferentz was asked about the situation again.

“It is serious,” he said. “mainly because it’s inappropriate. I addressed it with him, and his supervisor, Gary Barta, will be addressing with him today. We’ve also made the conference aware of it. It’s inappropriate and it can’t happen again.

“No matter what your profession is, there are things you can do and can’t do, and what happened Saturday was inappropriate.”
Brian Ferentz is in his sixth season as an assistant coach at Iowa but this is just his first year serving as the offensive coordinator. Iowa went on to defeat Minnesota 17-10.
