Iowa has received plenty of good news in recent days from multiple stars, including wide receiver Charlie Jones, defensive back Riley Moss and linebacker Jack Campbell, all returning for the 2022 season. One of the biggest names still undecided was All-American center Tyler Linderbaum.

The Hawkeyes offensive lineman has made an announcement.

Friday morning, Linderbaum revealed that he will be moving on from the college ranks and pursuing a career at the next level. He has declared for the 2022 NFL Draft.

It’s probably the smartest move for the star center, who is considered to be a high first-round pick in this year’s draft. Linerbaum released a statement on Twitter on Friday to make the decision official:

Linderbaum raked in a plethora of honors from the 2022 season. He was named the winner of the Rimington Trophy, presented to the nation’s best center. He was also the B1G Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Those honors come in addition to being named an All-American and All-B1G center. He was a critical piece to Iowa’s 10-4 season in 2021, which included a trip to the B1G Championship Game and a Citrus Bowl appearance.

Linderbaum’s departure leaves Iowa with some pretty big shoes to fill at the center position heading into the 2022 season.
