Iowa announces its starting quarterback and the full depth chart, ahead of Music City Bowl.

Iowa football will have a new starting quarterback for its bowl game, following Spencer Petras’ injury in the season finale against Nebraska. Backup QB Alex Padilla is also in the transfer portal.

On Tuesday, Iowa announced quarterback, Joe Labas will see his first career start for the Hawkeyes on New Year’s Eve for the Music City Bowl.

The 6-foot-4 and 207 pound, Labas was a three-star recruit out of high school and committed to Iowa in 2020 while a part of the class of 2021.

While on the depth chart, Iowa defensive back Dallas Craddieth entered the transfer portal about a week ago. So it will be interesting to see if there are more shifts in the chart by the time the game actually kicks off on New Year’s Eve.

However, Iowa will be missing one of its key defensive playmakers, safety Kaevon Merriweather, after announcing he will forgo playing in the bowl game to declare for the NFL Draft.

Iowa will take on Kentucky at noon ET in Nashville, Tenn. for the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.
