Iowa needed a spark against Wisconsin during the first half of the Week 11 matchup. Cue the Hawkeye special teams unit right on time.

Facing a 3-0 deficit against the Badgers, the Hawkeyes came up with a huge punt block deep in Wisconsin territory. Deontae Craig provided the block on 4th down with Jay Higgins scooping up the block for a huge swing of momentum in the second quarter.

The ensuing drive for Iowa needed just 2 plays to find the end zone. Spencer Petras found tight end Sam LaPorta for 13 yards to set up a 1st-and-goal situation.

From there, it was a carry to Kaleb Johnson who fought into the end zone for the game’s first touchdown and a 7-3 lead for the Hawkeyes. It’s still early, but the lead has breathed some new life into Iowa on both sides of the ball.
