Iowa’s secondary will be a little thinner in the first week of the season.

According to Marc Morehouse of the Cedar Rapids Gazette, sophomore defensive back Manny Rugamba will be serving a one-game suspension for violating team rules. The Hawkeyes open the year against Wyoming.

Rugamba played in 12 games for Iowa last season, including three starts. He was one of 10 true freshman to see the field for the Hawkeyes in 2016.

Even as a freshman Rugamba had an impact, recording 19 tackles, two interceptions and defending six passes. He was the B1G’s co-Freshman of the Week after the Hawkeyes beat Michigan.

Iowa will host Wyoming on Sept. 2.
