The first B1G player selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft is a Hawkeye.

With the 111th pick in the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Iowa defensive end Anthony Nelson. He becomes the third Hawkeye drafted this weekend.

A 6-foot-7, 270-pound defensive end, Nelson totaled 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss in 2018. In three seasons with the Hawkeyes, he registered 23 sacks and 31 tackles for loss. Nelson also tallied 119 total tackles.

NFL scouts like the slew of moves off the defensive line and his active hands while attacking the football. He’s got a good physical frame that was also appealing to several teams. There is some concern about whether he can be a full-time pass-rusher, but the Buccaneers didn’t want to pass on the big-bodied lineman.

Nelson was the first Iowa defensive player taken in the 2019 NFL Draft.
