Teenage Iowa fan punched after Wisconsin game

The slugfest in Madison last Saturday continued beyond the 60 minutes of play.
And unfortunately, it continued beyond the field of play, too.
University of Wisconsin-Madison Police reported that a 15-year-old Iowa fan was punched in the face by a man believed to be between 20 and 25 years old as he was exiting Camp Randall Stadium on 2:30 p.m. According to the report, the attack was unprovoked and the suspect fled the scene.
It apparently started when the Iowa fan, a Madison native, “mildly” teased one of his friends about the Hawkeyes’ 10-6 victory on Saturday. That led to the suspect approaching the boy and throwing the alleged punch.
The boy was not seriously injured, but did suffer bruises and scratches. The suspect was reportedly wearing a red shirt and jeans. Police have not identified the subject.
It was believed to be an isolated incident.
“Very rarely do we ever deal with something of this nature where it’s physical,” Marc Lovicott, the public information officer for UW-Madison Police told the Iowa Press-Citizen. “And that’s why this is concerning us so much.”
It was the first time the Badgers lost at Camp Randall Stadium since the regular-season finale in 2013.
Making sure the altercation isn’t repeated, police said, is the focus going forward.
“We pride ourselves, as Badgers fans, to be respectful to all fans — great sportsmanship is what makes Badger game days one of the best and most well-known traditions in the country. We can’t and will not stand for this behavior,” police said in the release.
