The Iowa Hawkeyes have released their full basketball schedule for the 2020-2021 season, including a newly added game against bitter in-state rival Iowa State to be played on Dec. 11 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.

Similar to the Cy-Hawk football series, which the Hawkeyes lead 45-22, Iowa also leads the basketball series against the Cyclones at 46-27 all time.

The Hawkeyes are entering the season with massive expectations, including a top-five preseason ranking, a first in program history. Iowa is returning an experienced roster, including Big Ten POY Luka Garza, who returned to school to make a run at the NCAA Tournament. The Hawkeyes were regarded as one of the hottest teams in the country last season when both the conference and NCAA Tournaments were summarily shut down to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Iowa is scheduled to play two mighty programs in the pre-season, including the North Carolina Tar Heels in Iowa City for the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, and the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

CBS Sports has picked the Hawkeyes to finish second in the Big Ten to a resurgent Illinois Fighting Illini program. The season is set to tip-off Nov. 25 and the rest of the Hawkeyes’ schedule can be found here.
