Iowa football didn’t have to look too far for its latest transfer commitment. The Hawkeyes earned a pledge from an in-state product on Friday.

Iowa Western Community College resides in Council Bluffs, Iowa and that’s where the latest Iowa transfer is from. Jackson Filer is now a Hawkeye.

Filer confirmed the news with an Instagram post. Filer recorded 15.5 sacks, 56 total tackles, and 3 forced fumbles this season. His performance earned the honor of NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Other schools that were interested in Filer were Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Hawaii, and Indiana State to name a few.

Jackson has a connection to the B1G, as his father Rodney played RB at Iowa from 1993-1996. It looks like some things are just destined to be.

If Filer’s skills can translate to the B1G he could cause some problems for opposing offensive lines. Iowa just bolstered its already stout defense even more.
