Iowa HC Kirk Ferentz releases statement on cancellation of Music City Bowl

After a 6-2 season, Iowa was primed to finish off its season in Nashville against Missouri in the Music City Bowl.
However, it’s 2020, and we cannot have anything nice. The Hawkeyes’ bowl dreams were shattered Sunday as the Tigers announced they were backing out of the bowl appearance due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Shortly after the news emerged of Iowa’s canceled bowl game, head coach Kirk Ferentz spoke out about the disappointing news.

After two games this season, it appeared that Iowa was heading in the wrong direction as the Hawkeyes lost close tilts to Purdue and Northwestern.
But then, Iowa got things rolling and did not slow down. The Hawkeyes rattled off six consecutive wins. It started with blowout wins against Michigan State, Minnesota, and Penn State. Then, Iowa eked out yet another close win against rival Nebraska after Thanksgiving.
Following that win, the Hawkeyes just kept rolling as they bested Illinois and Wisconsin to end the regular season.
This is Iowa’s second consecutive game that was canceled due to the virus. The Hawkeyes’ Champions Week game against Michigan was also canceled.
