Kirk Ferentz has named four players team captains for Iowa’s season opener against No. 17 Indiana on Saturday. The Hawkeyes are ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press Poll.
Center Tyler Linderbaum, quarterback Spencer Petras, defensive back Jack Koerner and defensive back Matt Hankins will serve as the captains for Saturday’s matchup. Iowa is planning to have fans in full capacity at Kinnick Stadium.
Linderbaum is an All-American center and will be the anchor along Iowa’s offensive line. Petras will be entering his second season as the starting quarterback for the Hawkeyes.
Koerner and Hankins are both excellent players in the secondary for Iowa and are expected to make key contributions this season. They are a big reason why Iowa’s defensive backfield is considered one of the best in the B1G.
Saturday’s game between the Hoosiers and Hawkeyes is set for 3:30 p.m. ET with coverage on Big Ten Network.
