Iowa OL Tristan Wirfs stole the show at the NFL Scouting Combine with record-setting performance

The performance of NFL Scouting Combine belongs to Tristan Wirfs, at least for now.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound former Iowa offensive lineman showed off serious athleticism on Friday, as he took the field for drills at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. And it wasn’t just one area in which Wirfs turned some heads, he was outstanding in nearly every drill he competed in on Friday.
Wirfs clocked a 4.85 time in the 40-yard dash, the best time of any offensive lineman in 2020. He leaped to a 36.5-inch vertical jump, a modern record for players at his position, according to NFL.com. Wirfs also measured a 10-foot-1 broad jump, tying Kolton Miller’s record for an offensive lineman.
Not a bad showing for the former Hawkeye.

Wirfs entered the NFL Combine considered to be a first-round draft pick, likely selected between the top 10 and 20 spots. But with his showing in Indianapolis, the former Hawkeye may rise into one of the top 10 spots.
