Iowa pauses football activities just over a week away from Music City Bowl appearance

It looks like Iowa’s postseason game may be in jeopardy with the Hawkeyes announcing they have paused team activities as of Monday.

Iowa has been on a tremendous roll this season, finishing the year on a six-game win streak. Kirk Ferentz and company were one of a few teams to complete all eight games on the B1G’s regular-season schedule but did not get to play in Champions Week.

On Monday, the team revealed it was pausing with just over a week to go before the scheduled Music City Bowl appearance against Missouri. According to Ferentz, the team is still hopeful to be able to play in that game.

“Late this afternoon I met with our Player Leadership Group and they overwhelmingly want to play in the bowl game,” Ferentz said via release. “We will continue to prepare and put our game plan together for the TransPerfect Music City Bowl using the technology available. While our first priority is the health and safety of our players and staff, our goal is to play and compete on Dec. 30.”

Hopefully Iowa is able to make it back in time for the bowl game. For now, that game is set to kickoff on Dec. 30 at 4 pm EST on ESPN.
