Iowa picked up a nice win on the recruiting trail Tuesday, adding a commitment from a big in-state wide receiver to the 2024 recruiting class.
The player is Reece Vander Zee, a 6-foot-5 WR and 3-star recruit out of Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids, Iowa. This spring, Vander Zee generated offers from Iowa, Iowa State and Nebraska, but Hawkeyes eventually won out.
“…With that being said, this is only the beginning and I can’t wait to make Hawkeye nation proud,” Vander Zee wrote in his announcement. “This is truly a dream come true. THank you to the entire Iowa staff for believing in me and blessing me with this amazing opportunity! Let’s work!”

Though unrated by the composite, 247 Sports rates Vander Zee as a 3-star recruit and the 8th player out of Iowa for the 2024 recruiting class. He’s also rated the 117th WR for the cycle and possesses elite size for the outside.
Iowa’s 2024 recruiting class is now up to 14 players for the cycle. Vander Zee is the 7th in-state player to commit to the Hawkeyes to this point and is the first WR prospect in the group.
