Iowa players drop Cy-Hawk trophy after beating Iowa State

It’s a huge deal for Iowa to hoist the Cy-Hawk trophy after a win over Iowa State. The Hawkeyes picked up the big win over the Cyclones on Saturday, but there was a mishap with the trophy.

In a slightly embarrassing moment for a couple of Iowa players, the Cy-Hawk trophy was dropped onto the field at Kinnick Stadium. Fortunately, the trophy did not appear to sustain any significant damage, and the postgame celebration in Iowa City continued.

Iowa will look to move up from its No. 21 ranking in the AP Top 25 with the win. The Hawkeyes are now 2-0 on the year. Kirk Ferentz’s team opened the year with a 40-0 win over Northern Illinois. The Cy-Hawk game, on the other hand, was low-scoring.

Hawkeyes QB Hank Brown, a transfer from Auburn, led the way for Iowa. Brown scored the Hawkeyes’ only touchdown, a rushing score in the second quarter. Brown was 21-of-30 passing for 191 yards. He rushed 8 times for 22 yards and the first-half score

Both teams scored their touchdowns in the second quarter. It was a 10-10 game at the half. Iowa State took a 13-10 lead in the third quarter. Iowa made two field goals in the fourth quarter to tie it up 13-13 and go out in front 16-13, the game’s final score.
