It’s becoming more of a trend in college football. Schools are putting the microphone on student-athletes to give fans the unique, behind-the-scenes look at how fall camp operations work.
Recently, Iowa mic’d up reigning B1G Punter of the Year Tory Taylor, a native of Melbourne, Australia. The decision to put the spotlight on the specialist was made after several Hawkeye fans made the request.
To be honest, it was probably one of the better “mic’d up” sessions out there.

Taylor enters this season as a preseason first-team All-B1G selection from Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Last season, Taylor averaged 44.1 yards per punt on 40 attempts during Iowa’s 6-2 campaign. He posted 9 punts of 50 yards or longer and had a career-best 61-yard boot. Taylor also pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line 18 times and was responsible for 20 fair catches with just 1 touchback.
