Tyler Goodson may have to send Nebraska’s defense a postcard.
Late in the first quarter with a 7-3 lead, Iowa was facing a 2nd-and-2 from its own 45-yard line and called for a simple handoff to Goodson to try to pick up the first down. The sensational freshman picked up a lot more.
Goodson found a wide open gap at the line of scrimmage and broke off a 55-yard run, blazing past the Huskers defense. The score gave the Hawkeyes a 14-3 first quarter lead.

Iowa’s offense was having no trouble early in this one.
Coming into the final game of the season, Goodson had rushed for 474 yards and three touchdowns on the season. By the end of the first quarter, the freshman had nearly 100 yards on the ground.
The 55-yard touchdown run was the longest of Goodson’s early career.
