Cade McNamara does not appear to factor into Iowa’s plans at quarterback for Week 10.

The veteran quarterback was benched for Brendan Sullivan against Northwestern. McNamara was 7-of-13 for 73 yards with an interception, notably taking a hard hit. Sullivan went 9-of-14 passing for 79 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, adding 8 carries for 41 yards and a TD.

Kirk Ferentz said postgame that there had been a plan to rotate the 2 quarterbacks. He confirmed that McNamara did not return in part because he was still feeling the effects of the second-quarter hit. At the time, Ferentz would not confirm if Iowa was making a permanent change at the QB position.

McNamara is not listed on Iowa’s Week 10 depth chart. Sullivan is listed as QB1, with Marco Lainez as the backup.

Sullivan has appeared in 7 contests for the 5-3 Hawkeyes. He is 11-of-16 passing on the year for 93 yards with 1 touchdown. As a runner, he has carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards with 3 scores. Last season, with Northwestern, Sullivan posted a 63-of-99 passing statline for 714 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also rushed 75 times for 160 yards and 2 scores.

Iowa and Wisconsin are set to do battle for the Heartland Trophy at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air on NBC.
