Iowa-Rutgers game features historically low over/under points total

Iowa has slogged its way through numerous ugly games during the Brian Ferentz era. Head coach Kirk Ferentz’s son will be out as OC after this season, but not before making some history in the process.
Earlier this year, Iowa had a pair of games with over/under points totals at 30.5 — against Northwestern and Minnesota. Those were both record low over/unders in college football history.
Well, Saturday’s game against Rutgers has shattered that record. Heading into the Big Ten game on Saturday afternoon, the over/under is now down to 27.5 points, which is simply incredible:
Today's over/under for Rutgers at Iowa now down to 27½, lowest in college football history
The lowest totals:
27½ Iowa-Rutgers, '23
30½ Iowa vs. Northwestern, '23
30½ Iowa vs. Minnesota, '23
31½ Air Force vs. Army, '23
31½ Iowa vs. Minnesota, '22
31½ Iowa vs. Kentucky, '22— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) November 11, 2023
It makes one wonder what ESPN Bet, which launches this coming Tuesday (Nov. 14), would have the over/under set as for this game. No matter where the line is set, taking the under is still quite tempting.
After all, in those 2 games against Minnesota and Northwestern, the totals ended up at 22 and 17 total points. It’s simply incredible that the Hawkeyes are 7-2 this season with that level of offensive ineptitude. A real credit to the Iowa defense!
