Iowa sharpshooter Josh Dix is reportedly in the transfer portal as the Hawkeyes continue their head coaching search for a replacement for Fran McCaffery.
A junior with 97 career appearances and 52 starts, Dix was among the top 3-point threats for an Iowa team that finished 19th nationally while shooting at a 38% clip from long range this season. He averaged 2 made 3-pointers per game — second on the Hawkeyes only to star Payton Sandfort — and is reportedly drawing serious interest in the portal.
According to Rob Reinhart, Dix has already heard from SEC basketball powerhouses Auburn and Alabama, along with fellow Big Ten program Michigan State. Louisville and Providence have also checked in. Auburn is the No. 1 overall seed for March Madness this year while Alabama and Michigan State landed a 2-seed in the final bracket.

Dix just completed his 3rd season with the Hawkeyes and has started 52 games across the past 2 seasons. The 6-foot-5 guard is shooting 41.9% from 3-point range for his career and is coming off his best collegiate season to date.
This past season, Dix averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 42.2% from long range while averaging 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He was the top prospect from the state of Iowa in the 2022 recruiting class and has been given a 4-star transfer rating per 247 Sports.
Any team looking to improve its 3-point shooting would get a boost from Dix heading into the 2025-26 season.
