No. 19 Iowa is set to travel to play Purdue on Saturday.
The Hawkeyes are coming off a 30-24 loss to Penn State, while the Boilermakers lost by 10 points to Michigan State in Week 9. Week 10 will be a challenge for both teams, as Iowa and Purdue are both at 3-2 in Big Ten play.
It will also be an extra challenge for Iowa defensively, as on Sunday, it was announced that DBs Matt Hankins and Trey Creamer will be suspended for the game against Purdue.
“Coach Kirk Ferentz says Creamer and Hankins’ actions ‘demonstrate poor judgment and are not reflective of the high standards of citizenship that we try to uphold’ at Iowa.
Creamer hasn’t gotten playing time with the Hawkeyes, but Hankins started the first 4 games.
He has since been hindered by injuries and did not travel with the team last week to Penn State. If Iowa’s secondary gets a bit nicked up during the game against Purdue, the lack of depth may become apparent.
Iowa-Purdue is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind.
